We are excited to share our news with you – so let us jump in.

Since the title of this post tells you that we have moved, that is a good starting point.

At the end of May, we officially left our Markham office and moved to our new headquarters, located at 70 Wellington Street East, Aurora, Ontario, L4G 1H8. Our contact information - phone numbers and email addresses - remain unchanged.

Our news is more than just a change of location – it is also about a permanent shift in how we work.

Before the pandemic, our whole team worked together at our Markham office; it was the workplace environment we all wanted. Then 2 years of work-from-home were thrust upon us. Although it was unplanned, the experience highlighted new possibilities. We use several platforms (Zoom, Slack, Teams, Jira, Confluence …) that allow us to collaborate seamlessly with our team members and customers – regardless of our locations.

Tamas and Andrea began to consider the advantages of allowing people the freedom to choose the work situation that suited them best. They asked the staff and found that most preferred to continue to be able to work-from-home or a hybrid option where they would go into the office occasionally. This became our new standard.

This new model also allowed us to hire new staff who live outside the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Embracing that, our team has recently grown to include a Developer who lives in New Brunswick and an Implementation Specialist who lives near Ottawa. Our team will shortly span from the east coast to the west coast as another of our Developers is relocating from the GTA to British Columbia.

Our office space in Markham would be too large when only Tamas and Andrea intended to be there 5 days a week. Our lease was due for renewal in May, providing the perfect opportunity to make a move.

While Tamas and Andrea were in the process of touring commercial rental suites, they saw a for sale sign on a unique century house that they had long admired from a distance. While purchasing a property for our new headquarters was not the initial plan, it ended up as a creative solution with many positive attributes. And so, The Robert Hughes House, circa 1856, has become Integral Group's new home starting in 2022.

The house is an interesting juxtaposition - a welcoming and charming Arts and Crafts style bungalow on the outside and a 21st-century workspace inside, complete with multiple video conferencing areas. While most of our team will not be in the office every day, individual workstations and collaborative spaces are available when people are onsite. There is also a lovely large front porch – with a strong Wi-Fi signal – so that work can be done while sitting outside on the Adirondack (a.k.a. Muskoka) chairs.

Tanya
"My commute today was a little longer than my WFH commute, but worth it.
… seeing coworkers again, catching up with each other in real time, sitting on the porch and eating lunch.
The new office feels like a home away from home.”
