Integrating Shopify

Towards the end of 2019, Shopify announced that it was ‘powering over 1 million merchants’: It is considered by many (certainly over 1MM) to be the top-rated eCommerce platform. Thus, it makes sense that Shopify is our first eCommerce topic in our new series on integration.

Shopify Inc. is a Canadian multinational eCommerce company, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Shopify is an eCommerce platform allowing retailers to sell online with their eCommerce store and a suite of services.

While Shopify is by no means the only major player in the eCommerce space, it is a popular solution for retailers wanting an online store that is simple to operate and has easy, all-inclusive pricing. Shopify also provides first-rate customer service. All of those things draw an immediate parallel to the customer experience we provide here at Integral Group.

Shopify is also a popular choice because it is a single, out-of-the-box solution that is close to drag-and-drop: it appeals to retailers who crave a simple, intuitive user experience. There are dozens of different store templates (about 10 are free themes and each theme has variations, so more like 100 different free designs). Hosting, domain name, SSL certificate, fraud analysis and SEO are all included in the price. While there are some paid add-on app’s, many of the most common are included in the initial price.

• Integral Group can integrate Shopify with your other business applications •

Some people think that Integral Group is just for their EDI and that they need an entirely different provider to deal with the APIs in their online stores: Not true. The simple truth is that Integral Group can integrate your Shopify store with your other business applications. Once integrated, you can see your Shopify store sales – in exactly the same way, and on the same Commerce Desktop web portal, that you are currently using for EDI.

Once you have Commerce Desktop integrating Shopify with your back-end accounting, ERP, WMS and shipping system(s) - you’ve enabled the flow of information – in very near real time – between all of the systems. This is obviously good from a business perspective – overall faster with fewer staff required to manage data and manual errors are minimized.

Integration makes your operation easily scalable – it works well when you have a smaller number of orders but also manages volume fluctuations when your online store is inundated with orders (think Black Friday) – without extra staff needed to process those orders.

Shopify Commerce Desktop WMS integration also serves to provide the immediate updates – like near real-time inventory and order tracking back into shopping carts - that online shoppers now demand.

• One service provider = easier process + more control + better customer experience •

In a nutshell, all of the same great features you already enjoy with Commerce Desktop are available to you when you integrate your Shopify online store.

Not using Shopify? Integral Group integrates with all eCommerce platforms … like WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and more. Keep an eye out for upcoming informational blog posts and infographics about other eCommerce platforms.

Over the next weeks and months, we will be also talking more about integration from the perspective of WMS and shipping systems.
